Family Promise of Knoxville has been gearing up to celebrate our 15th Annual Pasta & Bluegrass Festival. Every year, we look forward to hosting more than 500 of our invested community members (volunteers, clergy, and families) as we fundraise on behalf of families in our area experiencing homelessness. Sadly, for its 15th occasion Pasta & Bluegrass will be like none in our history. For the safety of our network, guests, and donors, we have redesigned this year’s Pasta & Bluegrass Festival into a week of virtual events. Between Sunday, August 16 and Saturday, August 22, we will feature two local bluegrass bands, two local chefs cooking follow-along recipes, a pasta recipe prepared by your FPK staff, and videos from Family Promise of Knoxville’s previous guests, board members, staff, clergy, and volunteers. Every evening at 6:00 PM, we will share our video for the day on our Facebook page (@FamilyPromiseofKnoxville).

In the event that you cannot join us, I want to ask you to consider financially contributing to our cause. For the last decade and a half, we have been the beacon of hope for families without a place to go. Family Promise of Knoxville is the only shelter in our city and county that makes sure a family stays together. Our mission has stayed the same, but our response and programming has adapted since 2005. The housing crisis our families face demands more than shelter and food for the night. Our families need services that keep them from becoming homeless in the first place. They need transitional housing opportunities (in-house) that allow them to worry less about surviving and more about their next steps toward independent housing.

By giving to Family Promise of Knoxville, you help us adapt to meet the needs of our city’s most vulnerable children and adults. Your donations will go directly to our work of helping families get back on their feet through intentional case management, access to community-wide resources, and the opportunity to become more financially literate and independent. Will you help us, through your generous donation, so that we can continue to be the place that adamantly says “Yes!” to families in desperate need of respite, renewal, and a second chance?

This season of COVID-19 reminds us that the many issues facing families with children experiencing homelessness have multiplied. Suddenly, what was already a precariously tight financial situation became an unending nightmare of needing shelter, food, employment, and childcare. Since our inception in 2004, we have served hundreds of families working their way through homelessness. We are asking for your passionate support in this hard season. Please consider contributing to our Pasta & Bluegrass Week. As always, our mission is impossible without you!
